The TUV Marks are registered certification mark of TUV Rheinland of North America. TUV Rheinland is an independent product-safety testing and certification organization. The TUV Marks may only be used on or in connection with products certified by TUV and under the terms of written agreement with TUV. An electrical, mechanical or electro-mechanical product bearing the North American TUV Listed mark signifies that it was tested and meets the minimum requirements of prescribed product safety standards. Moreover, the mark indicates that the manufacturer's production site conforms to a range of compliance measures and is subject to periodic follow-up inspections to verify continued conformance. The TUV Mark is important because an independent, technically expert organization that doesn't have a financial interest in the product's ultimate profitability, determines whether foreseeable risks associated with the product's use have been eliminated or minimized. Once in the marketplace, a product must continue to meet safety requirements in order to bear the TUV Mark or the mark will be removed by TUV. TUV Rheinland of North America is a Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL) in the United States and is accredited by the Standards Council of Canada to test and certify products to Canadian National Standards. Clients can demonstrate compliance for both U.S. and Canadian markets through a single mark (cTUVus) on their product(s).
